In the last few years there has been an important evolution in psychiatric and psychoterapeutic treatments of adolescents, thanks to a larger interest in psychic disorders of adolescence and to the awareness of the importance of giving an immediate and effective help to that delicate period of life.
A deeper knowledge of evolution processes makes it possible to think about the different therapeutic approaches and to define, in a better way, models, methods and purposes of techniques.
Therefore, it is necessary, at an operative level, to ask ourselves some questions about connections between evolution processes and developments of treatments, in these different contexts.
The 6th Congress of the International Society for Adolescent Psychiatry (I.S.A.P.) represents the occasion of meeting of mental health clinicians coming from different parts of the world, to reflect and compare together different experiences, problems and perspectives.
Very qualified specialists will offer their contribution in showing a scientific panorama of different aspects of research and work at the beginning of the new millennium.

Depuis quelques années les traitements psychiatriques et psychothérapeutiques des adolescents ont considérablement évolué.
Cela a été determiné par un plus grand intérêt porté à la détresse psychologique des adolescents et par la reconnaissance de l'importance alors d'une aide efficace et immédiate.
Une connaissance approfondie des processus psychiques de l'adolescence permet aujourd'hui de reconsidérer les différentes approches thérapeutiques pour mieux définir les modèles, les méthodes et les objectifs des techniques employées, aussi bien du point de vue général que des pathologies spécifiques.
Dans la pratique, il reste nécessaire de s'interroger sur les rapports entre les processus évolutifs et les développements des traitements dans les différents contextes.
Le 6e Congrès de l'International Society for Adolescent Psychiatry (I.S.A.P.) se propose d'être une occasion de rencontre sur ces thèmes pour tous les cliniciens qui s'occupent de la santé mentale des adolescents. Nous nous efforcerons de confronter les différentes expériences et leur limites pour tenter d'ouvrir des nouvelles perspectives.
Des spécialistes de renom feront le point sur la recherche et le travail en psychiatrie de l'adolescent au début du nouveau millénaire.
