Annual Meeting Program - June 12-14, 2009 Letter to Members (see the 2009 Program)
March 1, 2009 Dear Friends and Colleagues, Greetings to all members of the Rapaport-Klein Study Group. We hope this has been a good year for you - personally and professionally. We are happy to invite you to our 46th annual meeting which will be held, as usual, on the 2nd weekend in June: June 12th,13th, and 14th, 2009, at the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. We are again grateful to Paolo Migone for helping us maintain our electronic presence. Our website remains http://www.psychomedia.it/rapaport-klein to review the history of every meeting since the beginning of our group including many of the papers presented at our meetings. The website for this year's program is http://www.psychomedia.it/rapaport-klein/june2009.htm which contains additional information on all presentations. If there are any changes in your e-mail address, please notify Paolo at <migone@unipr.it>. Again we expect that some of the papers presented this year will be posted. Any suggestions for improving our website are welcome and should also be sent to Paolo. We think you will be very pleased with this year's rich program which promises extremely interesting contributions. On Friday evening, we are pleased to have George Makari who will speak on "Revolution in Mind: The Creation of Psychoanalysis." On Saturday morning, following time for a go-round to share our recent work, we are pleased to have Phebe Cramer whose presentation is titled: "Empirical Studies of Defense Mechanisms." Following lunch, the afternoon session will be given over to Wilma Bucci, Leon Hoffman and Bernard Maskit whose presentation will be on "Computerized Methods of Inference from Treatment Notes and Treatment Process: A Study of Successful and Unsuccessful Cases at NYPI from 1950 to 1990s." There will be ample time for continued discussion of our Saturday presentations at the end of the day. Cocktails at the Lippmann's completes our Saturday. On Sunday, following our business meeting, we are most happy to have Paolo Migone who will present "Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy Does Not Exist: A Theoretical Critique to the Concept of Short-Term Therapy." We need to remind you that dues and fees for guests need to be paid as soon as possible. Space is limited and we request no more than one guest per member. Kindly call Doris Silverman (212-799-1577) or Paul Lippmann (413-298-3862) as soon as you can to let us know if you are inviting a guest. Overnight accommodations should be made soon since, as you know, it is busy time of the year in the Berkshires. Members that would care to stay at the Red Lion Inn should call 413-298-5545 and refer to "Group Reservation # 157865: Rapaport-Klein Rooms." We look forward to seeing you once again and enjoying our weekend together. Sincerely, Paul Lippmann and Doris Silverman, Co-Chairs Web Editor: Paolo Migone.
